I wake up looking like this (cough, not, cough)

July 10, 2015

I love my products. And you should know, SuthinGirl is both a loyal and adventurous lover. She’s also ruthless. I keep what I love and toss what I don’t. I’m always paring down. I get a strange thrill from keeping a minimal arsenal of supplies; knowing that I own the very best and, most importantly, the very best for me.

Certain items change seasonally. Others are essential and will never (ever) lose pride of place.

Get ready for an inside peek at my up-to-the-minute skincare, makeup, hair, and nail faves. Who knows? You might just fall in love with something yourself. Or perhaps rekindle a love affair with a product you’d long ago forgotten!

SKINCARE

Bobbi Brown Soothing Cleansing Oil $44

Perfect for dry or mature skin and removes every trace of makeup without irritating eyes.

Neutrogena Oil Free Acne Wash Salicylic Acid Acne Treatment $7.29

Use this on your T-zone a couple of times a week to prevent any stray breakouts and tighten pores.

clarisonic

Clarisonic Mia (20% off at skin store.com = $81.00) GAME CHANGER!♥

St. Ives Fresh Skin Apricot Scrub $3.82

Use once a week on body to remove lotion and sunscreen build up so your products will absorb better. Makes skin feel sooooo unbelievably soft.

Peter Thomas Roth Un-Wrinkle Eye $100

(Disclaimer: been using less than a week. Was using Bobbi Brown Extra Eye Cream before.)

PTR firming

Peter Thomas Roth Instant Firm Eye Temporary Eye Tightener $38 MIRACULOUS RESULTS!

Bobbi Brown Extra Repair Moisture Cream $96

Lightweight but rich. Perfect for the steamy summer temps.

MAKEUP

Bobbi Brown Tinted Eye Brightener $32

Silky texture but opaque coverage.

Chanel Natural Finish Loose Powder $52

I’ve been using this in 20 Clair over my moisturizer in lieu of foundation forever. Great finish but not heavy.

Sisley L’Orchidée Rose Blush $110

Beautiful product with a lovely lilac fragrance. I love the highlights and color it gives me.

Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Cream Shadow Stick $29

I rotate Violet Plum, Bark, and Forest depending on my mood. They go on creamy, set quickly, and last all day. Easy to smudge for a shadow effect, too! I apply Sugar Frost to the inside 1/3 of my lower lashline (on the skin, not inside the lid) and it opens up my eyes and makes me look fresh.

Bobbi Brown Shimmer Wash Eye Shadow $28

Dusting this in Champagne over my lid neutralizes my skin’s natural pink tone.

Maybelline Great Lash $4.79

How amazing that you can buy this at the grocery store or any drugstore and it works better than ANYTHING else I’ve tried. It’s not goopy and lasts all day.

guerlain kisskiss

Guerlain KissKiss Liplift $37 GAME CHANGER!

I have vertical lip lines forming that have a bit of my natural lip pigment. Hate them! This product is creamy and a touch waxy, and the perfect color to camouflage these little suckers. I apply it before my lipstick and I swear to God I am excited by the results every single time!

CoverGirl Lip Perfection Liner $7

Sets well and isn’t drying on the lips. The color Beloved is close to my natural lip color. I top it with a sparkly gloss and it looks freshly applied for hours!

Chanel Rouge Coco Shine $35

LOVE this product because it’s not matte, not sticky, not too sheer, and wears really well. I have a host of colors but use Secret as my go-to when I’m out and about.

HAIR

John Frieda Radiant Red Color Captivating Daily Shampoo $6.59

You can also buy this product for blonde or brunette color hair. I don’t color my hair but I’ve found this product enhances my natural color without actually depositing any color. Don’t ask me how!

John Frieda Radiant Red Color Magnifying Daily Conditioner with Light Enhancers $6.59

Same fantastic results as shampoo.

Aveda Hair Remedy

Aveda Damage Remedy Daily Hair Repair $33.94 GAME CHANGER!

I absolutely LOVE this product! I have somewhat coarse hair with a bit of natural wave. I’ve had bad luck with serums and smoothers in the past because they weigh my hair down and leave a build up. Not this! It’s MAGICAL! My daughter has fine hair that tends to be dry and we use it on her as well with just as amazing results.

Mason Pearson Detangler Hairbrush $110

The end all, be all of hairbrush lines. I’ve had mine for years.

T3 Featherweight 2 Hairdryer $134.99

There really is something to this tourmaline-charged, ceramic dryer. I’ve been using one for so long I tend to forget that I don’t actually have smooth hair until I use another person’s hairdryer and realize that regular dryers don’t sweet talk your hair like the T3!

Nails

Essie Nail Polish $8.50

So easy to find and comes in a ton of colors. I wear Vanity Fairest (pale pink with a teensy, tiny bit of shimmer) on my fingers and Bachelorette (sexy fuscia) on my toes.

essie good to go

Essie Good to Go! Fastest Drying Topcoat $10 GAME CHANGER!

Hands down the BEST quick-dry top coat EVER. Dries in a minute (literally) and stays nice and shiny for so long you’ll get the look of gel nails without the hassle and wear-and-tear.

Deborah Lippmann The Stripper To Go Nail Lacquer Remover Mitts $12 for a package of 6

A bit of a splurge but I love the lavender scent and portability.

OTHER ESSENTIALS

Cerave Moisturizing Lotion $10.99

Nothing better for daily moisturizing.

Clarins Gentle Care Roll-On Deodorant $19

foot cream

Deborah Lippmann Steppin Out Nourishing Foot Cream $34 GAME CHANGER!

I love the smell and rich texture of this lotion! It softens my feet better than sleeping in socks with lotion on my feet all night. Ew. Use it on your calves, too.

Tweezerman Pink Perfection Slant Tweezers $23 (Allure Best of Beauty 2014 Award Winner)
