Now that I think about it, my childhood was filled with a certain mystical presence. From the Starscroll astrology machine in the movie theater lobby (remember those?!) to the constellations twinkling overhead in the science museum’s planetarium to the Ask Grandma fortune telling booth at the local five and dime, I’ve long been captivated by the idea of messages and unforeseen powers from the great beyond.

When Dean and I were touring Prague in the spring, we strolled right past the famous Astronomical Clock in the Old Town Square! Built in 1410 and still working! According to those all-knowing folks at Wikipedia: The clock mechanism is composed of three main components: the astronomical dial, representing the position of the Sun and Moon in the sky and displaying various astronomical details; “The Walk of the Apostles,” a clockwork hourly show of figures of the Apostles and other moving sculptures—notably a figure of Death (represented by a skeleton) striking the time; and a calendar dial with medallions representing the months.

You’re gonna die. I have this. Me, she of the very fair skin! And you know what? I love it. I do! But then I never met a rainbow micro glitter I didn’t want to kiss.
