Atlanta’s Best Sunday Supper: Davio’s

September 18, 2016

I read the best expression on my friend @LouiseJohnsonInteriors Instagram this morning. She called today “Slow-Down Sunday.” I love it! Isn’t that just exactly what we all need? To set aside time before for jumping into another big, busy week to reconnect…with ourselves, our family, our friends.

We Busy!

I am SO grateful. Like, pinch-me-this-can’t-be-happening grateful. SuthinGirl is bringing me opportunities I never dreamed of. I’ve officially joined the ranks of working moms, following my passion, showing my children that when you love what you do you’ll never work a day in your life, balancing keeping the homefires burning with pressing the SuthinGirl gas pedal…and you know what? It’s a wild and crazy ride, and I’m loving it. All of it! I’m hardly the only busy one in the family. Dean travels A LOT for work. Our three kids are each in different schools. Weekends are our sacred time to circle the wagons and focus on the family. Especially Sundays.

Slow-Down Sunday

I konked out last night before Dean and Caroline got home from one of their daddy/daughter dates and awoke to a sweet surprise: Krispy Kreme donuts!! So at this very moment, I’m writing to you in my pajamas, Dinka curled up asleep next to me, a hot cup of coffee and chocolate glazed donut on the bedside table. Dean is working quietly in the armchair next to me with an eye on his beloved Sunday NFL Countdown. I hear the kids up and stirring around in the kitchen, sounds of their fave TV show coming from the family room. It’s a rainy morning in Atlanta and still pretty dark outside for this time of day. Total nesting mode!

Last weekend we tried out the new Sunday Supper at Davio’s Atlanta inside Phipps Plaza.

It was a HIT!!!!! Yep, all caps with a long trail of exclamation points. The variety on the menu went over really well with everyone and the staff was cheerful and seemed to genuinely enjoy interacting with our kids. Ha! Here are some of my favorite moments from that night as shared on @SuthinGirl Instagram.

Woooohooo! Family dinner!! Headed to Davio’s for one of their fab prix fixe family Sunday Suppers featuring a different region of Italy every month. Tonight we’ll be exploring Friuli, Italy.

Familia! Feeling especially grateful. And full. Thank you, Davio’s Sunday Supper! You collected our iPhones when we sat down and, yeah, there was a stunned silence. But then guess what? Our kids talked and colored and laughed and even sang! We listened, we ate (oh boy, did we eat) and we looked at each other in the eyes. See you next week for another Davio’s Unplugged Sunday Supper!
